Made by ‘Abbe de Saint-Non’ after ‘Jean Baptiste Le Prince’. Jean-Claude Richard Abbe de Saint-Non (1727-1791) was a French designer, engraver and aquatint artist. Jean-Baptiste Le Prince (1734-1781)came from Metz and studied with Boucher in Paris. He stayed in St. Petersburg between 1758 and 1763. After returning to France he etched many Russian scenes. Le Prince is also considered to be the inventor of the aquatint technique.

Condition: Good, given age. Some soiling mostly on rear. Trimmed near plate mark. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
