Description
Original antique master print showing a bearded alchemist squints closely at his experiment as he tends a small fire with a pair of hand-bellows. Beside him, his young assistant looks on. This busy and productive workroom also houses a pair of assistants who work with mortar and pestle at a table to the rear of the room. Glass distillation vessels, flasks, and books lie scattered on the floor, and a print has been pinned against the far wall, close to a suspended taxidermied fish specimen hung above.

Medium: Etching / engraving with hand colouring on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 43 x 34.5 cm (16.93 x 13.58 inch). Image size: 35 x 25 cm. (13.78 x 9.84 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Some damp staining but mainly visble on verso. Some minor crinkles bottom left corner. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
