Size in cm: The overall size is ca. 36.5 x 20.6 cm. The image size is ca. 34.5 x 17.7 cm. Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 9.4 x 8.3 inch. The image size is ca. 14.2 x 7.5 inch.

Map: World. This decorative map with the two hemispheres shows the continents: North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, New Holland, Australia. It is surrounded by 6 spheres showing circles, zones, parallels, definitions and meridians. This engraved map originates from: ‘Universal Gazetteer … by John Walker / Arthur Kershaw, London, fifth edition, 1810.Artists and Engravers: The author of this work is John Walker, M.D. The maps are engraved by William Darton Jr., who was active in London in his father’s publishing house from the late 18th. c. This map was originally engraved for the Atlas to Walker’s Geography.

Condition: Fine. Several false fold lines as typical from binding and handling. Paper separation in one of the foldlines, backed by contemporary paper and restored part in print by professional, lightly visible. General age related toning and occasional light soiling as visible on the scan. Please study scan carefully.
