Antique map, titled: ‘Carte de la Cote Orientale de Madagascar depuis la Pointe de l’Est jusques et compris le Lac Nosse Be.’ – A sea chart of the East coast of Madagascar, from circa Taomasina North to Maroantsetra (Helodrano Antongila Bay) and Masoala National Park (modern names). Several places, capes, river inlets ets. Are names along the coast. With some depth soundings, and four detailed inset maps. The map was published by Jean-Baptiste d’Apres de Mannevillette in ‘Neptune Oriental.’, in 1775.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Guillaume de la Haye’ after ‘Jean-Baptiste-Nicolas-Denis d’Apres de Mannevillette’. Guillaume Delahaye (1725-1802) was a French engraver of geography and topography. Based on the map of Chevalier de Roslan. Jean-Baptiste-Nicolas-Denis d’Apres de Mannevillette (1707-1780) was a French hydrographer and cartographer.

Condition: Good, given age. Original middle fold, as issued. Some offsetting where the map was folded on itself. Scattered small stains in the margins and image area (mostly in the margins). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
