BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Age estimate: c.1720.

Reference: In Slovak National Gallery.

Biography engraver: Johann Elias Ridinger (1698-1767) was a German painter, engraver, draughtsman and publisher. He is one of the most famous German engravers of animals, in particular horses, hunting scenes and dogs. He was trained in painting by Resch and Falch, and was taught engraving by Georg Philipp Rugendas.
