Description
This print shows a map from an atlas for children depicting Asia, China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, India, Russia and Arab countries. A large legend on the right. Old an expensive textile on reverse used as cover for the children not damaging the map. Collection stamps and signature from previous owner the famous VG Radionov (Radionoff). Dated on reverse 1940.
Made by an anonymous engraver after Jean-Claude Dezauche.
Medium: Etching / Engraving on handlaid (verge) paper.

Condition: good, given age. Expensive textile on reverse. Signature Radionoff. Collection stamps. Number of collection N. 808. Smudges in margin. Some small tears in lower margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This attractive print was published in l’Enfant Geograhe, ca 1800.
Biography engraver: Jean-Claude Dezauche (c.1745-1824) was a French cartographer, engraver, and publisher. Dezauche’s work is often overlooked or misattributed. Dezauche acquired most of de l’Isle and Buache’s stock in 1780, from Buache’s nephew Jean-Nicolas, himself also an engraver and map-maker.
