This hand coloured print shows a map of Great Britain, with England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Inset map showing the islands north of Scotland, top right.
Made by an anonymous engraver after Tirion.
Medium: Engraving / hand coloured on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 43.8 x 38.8 cm (17.24 x 15.28 inch). Image size: 37.2 x 32.5 cm. (14.65 x 12.8 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Fold as published. Folds in lower corners. Purple Russian stamp. Text on reverse signature, England, 1943. Three thin paper spots. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

This attractive print was published in “Nieuwe en Beknopte Hand-Atlas, bestaande in eene Verzameling van eenige der algemeenste en nodigste Landkaarten.” by Tirion, Amsterdam, 1753.
Provenance: Below the islands is a stamp with Russian text of the previous owner.
Biography artist: Isaak Tirion, a Dutch publisher in Amsterdam, was born 1705. He produced serveral Atlases and Dutch town plans. The maps mainly based on those of Guillaume de l’Isle. He died in 1765.
