This rare print shows a view of the province of Frisia, Friesland, in the Netherlands and the isles above. We also see parts of the provinces of Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel and Northern Germany. French text about Frisia on the reverse.

Condition: good, given age. Small tear in top margin. Paper losse in top right margin backed. 2 Tears in bottom left margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This attractive print was published in the French version of the MercatorHondius atlas by Jan Evertsz. Cloppenburgh, ca 1630.
Biography engraver: Pieter van den Keere (1571-1646) was a Flemish engraver, publisher and globemaker. He received his commission from Hondius. From 1593 he worked together with him in Amsterdam.
