Antique drawing, untitled. Hunting scene. Men on horseback and riding an elephant attack a tiger, who has just slain a fourth man. One of the men shoots a musket, while the others hold spears. Originally Persian/Mughal/Indian minatures originate from books/diaries and were often removed to be collected in albums. Later recolouring of these items is common. Miniatures are still made today and regularly old paper with manuscript writing is used today to partly paint over with images painted after the historic original scenes depicting scenes of court life, hunting scenes and royal figures. We feel this item is such item. We have assessed this item as a 20th. c. painting on 16-18th. c. paper with original manuscript writing. Indian minature painting. Artists and Engravers: Anonymous.
