Made by ‘Jan Gerard Smits’ after own design. Jan Gerard Smits (Den Haag 1823 -1910) was a Dutch aquarellist, etcher, lithographer, draughtsman, painter who gave drawing and painting lessons to Queen Sophie of Wurttemberg. She was Queen of the Netherlands as the first wife of King William III. Smits travelled a lot alongside the large rivers like the Rhine. Besides riverlandscapes he made marines, townviews, animals etc.
Condition: Good, given age. Mounted on cardboard. Brown spots. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
