Antique drawing, untitled. Landscape with herdsman, cow and goats in front of a castle ruin overlooking a river valley. Likely along the Rhine river. Source unknown, to be determined. Provenance: ex-coll van de Ven, Berlicum. previously sold by Gebr. Koch, The Hague, 1966.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘August Knip’ after own design. Augustus / August Knip (1819-1860) was a Dutch painter, eldest son and student of the painter Josephus Augustus Knip, brother of the paintress Henriette Ronner-Knip.
Condition: Very good, given age. Remains from previous attachment on rear. Ghosting from previous framing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
