Made by ‘Abe Hendrik Hoowy’ after ‘Pieter Stortenbeker (1828-1898)’. Artist Abe Hendrikus Hoowy (1886-1939) was the father of artist Reinier Johannes Hoowy (1905 – 1973). Abe Hoowy or Hoowij lived and worked in Apeldoorn (1904), Amsterdam (1911), Den Haag, Columbusstraat 249 with his son R.J. Hoowy (till 1939) and Weesp where he died in 1939. Abe was a painter from cityviews and still lives. He could have been a pupil of Pieter Stortenbeker. See Scheen’s schilders Lexicon and RKD.
Condition: Very good, given age. Holes in the edges (made by the artist to make the watercolour, not affecting image). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
