Antique drawing, untitled. Dutch harbour scene (probably Rotterdam) with workers unloading a ship with hay. After1903 this artist started doing this type of street scenes.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘August Willem van Voorden’ after own design. August Willem van Voorden (1881-1921) was a Dutch painter from and active in Rotterdam. He was trained by his father and at the Academy. He is best known for his scenes of urban life in Rotterdam. He was heavely influenced by the works of George Hendrik Breitner and was often named ‘the Breitner of Rotterdam’. In his paintings he used bright impressionistic colors. He also worked near Kortenhoef and Laren, where he worked with artists of the the Hagur school.

Condition: Good, given age. No margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
