Biography artist: Otto Eerelman (1839-1926) was a Dutch painter and illustrator from Groningen, best known for his depictions of horses and dogs. He studied at the Academie Minerva and later at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, and also worked in the studio of Lawrence Alma-Tadema. Eerelman became court painter to Queen Wilhelmina and produced many portraits and equestrian subjects. His work often depicts animals and rural life with careful observation and lively detail.
