Antique Drawing-BATUAN-BALI-DEMONS-INDONESIA-Anonymous-ca. 1960



This painting in colour shows the typical Batuan style from Bali, Indonesia. Demons, to be recognized by their muzzle full of teeth and dark smudges on their body, are terrorising women. The demon in front is holding a bamboo book in his hands with spells written on it. Another demon is being strangled by a liane by the hand of another figure. On the right a woman is being attacked by dogs, another woman watches a worm crawling out of her ass. A woman is hanging upside down on a tranch being grilled over a fire lit by a demon. On the left we see a demon in a tree throwing arrow-heads right in the mouth of a woman. A man with a spear in his handsits in a cokkingpot being picked in his nose by a dark bird.

Condition: Good, given age. Two tears in upper margin been restored. Crinkle in lower left corner. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
