Handcoloured lithographed anatomical plate showing “geopende menschelijke eijeren in de eerste maanden der zwangerschap, de vrucht met den moederkoek verbonden uit hare natuurlijke ligging weggenomen en den romp eener vrucht” (opened human ova in the first months of pregnancy, the link from fetus to placenta, and the chest of a fetus). Plate V, vol. 1, from: “Magazijn van ontleedkunde, of volledige verzameling van ontleedkundige afbeeldingen van het menschelijk ligchaam” (Amsterdam, C.G. Sulpke, [1839]). These plates are lithographed after drawings by the foremost physicians of the time, such as Rosenmuller, Loder, Karel Bell, Gordon & Bock.
