Print Description
Subject: 32 Antique master prints, untitled. A collection of 32 prints (incl. some duplicates) of etchings and aquatints by Ludwig Hess. This includes many mountain landscapes, two prints published for the benefit of Swiss refugees, portraits of rustic Swiss people, a cow, and finally a portrait of Ludwig Hess.
Condition: Very good, given age. With ands without margins. Some of the sheets soiled in the margins, and with scattered foxing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Etching and aquatint on wove and hand laid paper.

Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Ludwig Hess’ after own design. Ludwig Hess (1760-1800) was a Swiss landscape painter and engraver, born in Zurich. Influenced by Salomon Gessner, he started making landscapes.
