Made by ‘Cornelis Galle I’ after ‘Jacques Francquart’. Cornelis Galle I / the elder (1576-1650) was a Flemish designer and engraver who originated from Antwerp. He was a well known member of the famous printmakers/publishers family Galle. He learned the trade from his father Philip Galle (1537-1612) and stayed in Rome for a long time. He worked with his brother Theodor Galle (1571-1633).
Condition: Good, given age. Light soiling. Last plate partly trimmed and attached to carrier. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
