3 Antique maps, titled: ”Amerique Meridionale …” – A map of South-America in three sheets. A decorative cartouche in the lowest of the three sheets. From a General Atlas of d’Anville. Most of D’Anville’s atlases were made up for the individual customer, so it appears that no two are alike. Ref: Phillips Maps, p.799. cf P571, 572, 599. NMM 200.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Guillaume Delahaye’ after ‘Jean Baptiste Bourguignon d’Anville’. Jean Baptiste Bourguignon d’Anville (1697-1782) was a geographer and cartographer from France. His fame was established through his historical maps, which shows careful accurate work and are based largely on original research.

Condition: Fair, given age. Original middle fold in each of the sheets, as issued. Some creases and small tears in the margins. One tear extends from the left margin into the image (closed with acid-free archival tape). Staining and offsetting in the image area. Rare, but not in the best condition visually although the sheets can easily be cleaned, which we can do on request. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
