Description
Subject: Antique drawings, titled: ‘Reynardus Willem van Rossum […] en Maria Engelen […].’ – Set of a drawing and 2 prints including an attractive large decorative marriage allegory made for Reynardus Willem van Rossum (1792-1874) and Maria Engelen (1792-1853), which took place on July 12, 1815. Their 3 children are listed at left: Joannes Jakobus Albertus (1816-1817), Joannes Jakobus Albertus (1817-1818) and Wilhelmina Maria Jakoba (1819-1893). We found reference that Reynardus was a reformed minister in Alphen. Apparently he married again in 1822 with Johanna Groenemeyer and had 2 more children. This set further includes a crayon style lithograph by J.P. Berghaus made in 1854 and a lithographic cerficate of membership of the ‘Hollandsche Maatschappij van landbouw.’ (Dutch Society of Agriculture, Alphen region.)
Condition: Good, given age. Paper edges with some small tears. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Pen and ink with watercolour drawing and crayon style lithograph on wove paper.
