Set of 2 mattching stipple engravings, plate coloured (a-la-pouppee) on hand laid (vergé type) paper. Watermark:
Sheet size: 36 x 45 cm. Image size: 31.5 x 40 cm.

Provenance:

Made by Jacques Bonnefoy d’Arles (1755-1828) who was a French stipple engraver from Arles, active in Paris. After Francois Boucher. Francois Boucher (1703-1770) was a French painter, a proponent of Rococo taste, known for his idyllic and voluptuous paintings on classical themes, decorative allegories representing the arts or pastoral occupations, intended as a sort of two-dimensional furniture. He was perhaps the most celebrated decorative artist of the 18th century.

Condition: Good, given age. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. Paper edges with small tears, not effecting image.
