From: Korte Beschryvinghe, Ende Aen-Wysinghe der Plaetsen in desfn Boeck, met hunnen teghenwoordigen Standt, pertinentelijck uytghebeldt, in Oostenryck. Published in Antwerp by J. Peeters, ca. 1690. Part of a series of prints on the Turkish Wars, with Arab and Mediterranean views.
Made by ‘Gaspar Bouttats’ after an anonymous artist. Gaspar Bouttats (1625-1695) was a Flemish engraver from Antwerp, mostly working for book publishers. Ioan / Jan I Peeters (1624-1677) was a Flemish painter of marine scenes. Later he also became an art dealer. He was a student of his brothers Bonaventura and Gilles. His students include his children Jan Frans and Isabelle and Adriaen van Bloemen.
Condition: Good, given age. Stains in margins, number in upper margin, dog ear right lower corner. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
