Medium: Stipple engraving on wove (vellin) paper.

Sheet size: 35.5 x 29.5 cm (13.98 x 11.61 inch). Image size: 30 x 24 cm. (11.81 x 9.45 inch).

Condition: good, given age. Light staining to right edge, minor creases and soiling in margins. A few tears in bottom paper edges. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Published in Paris by Bonnefoy, Rue Bonaparte 36, ca. 1820.

Biography engraver: Little is known of Laindor de Toulouze, an active French engraver in the early 19th century, known for adapting English sentimental and genre scenes for the Parisian print market.

Biography artist: Thomas Stothard (1755?1834) was a British painter, illustrator, and engraver. Known for his narrative scenes and contributions to book illustration, his works were widely adapted into engravings in both England and France.
