Biography engraver: Jacob Houbraken (1698-1780) was a Dutch engraver renowned for his fine portrait engravings of notable historical figures, often as part of large illustrated biographical works.

Biography artist: Georg Gsell (1673-1740) was a Swiss painter and art dealer. He became Merian’s son-in-law and is known for his portraits and for promoting her legacy through images and publications.
