BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Charles Motte (1785-1836) was a pioneering Parisian lithographic printer and publisher. He produced high-quality prints for historical, genre, and portrait subjects during the early 19th century.
Biography artist: Charles Bellay (1826-1900) was a Parisian lithographer known for genre scenes and popular series. J.P. Quenot designed several such compositions based on theatrical and everyday life, and Drolling’s influence is evident.
