Condition: very good, given age. Light foxing, creasing and soiling. Original middle fold as published, with small tears at fold, backed. Arger tear at bottom left, backed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Originally printed in Rome in 1586. Published with privilege, dedicated to Pope Sixtus V. This plate probably originates from ‘Theatrum Civitatum’ by Joan Blaeu, 1663.

Biography engraver: Natale Bonifacio da Sebenico (1537-1592) was a Croatian-born engraver active in Rome, known for detailed architectural and scientific prints during the late Renaissance.

Biography artist: Giovanni Guerra (1540-1618) was an Italian draughtsman and painter known for working under Pope Sixtus V. He often collaborated with printmakers like Bonifacio to produce monumental engravings.
