Medium: Crayon-style engraving printed in sanguine colour on hand laid (verge) paper.

Sheet size: 47.2 x 35.5 cm (18.58 x 13.98 inch). Image size: 38.7 x 27.3 cm. (15.24 x 10.75 inch).

Condition: good, given age. Light foxing, creasing and soiling. Paper separation along right plate edge, backed. Some thin paper spots. Small rust hole in top margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Jean-Baptiste Lucien (c.1748-1806) was an 18th-century French engraver known for his refined reproductive prints, often working in crayon-style after leading painters.

Biography artist: Jean-Baptiste Marie Pierre (1714-1789) was First Painter to King Louis XV and renowned for his mythological and allegorical works in the Rococo style.
