Description
Medium: Etching on wove (vellin) paper.
Sheet size: 53 x 66 cm (20.87 x 25.98 inch). Image size: 50.4 x 64 cm. (19.84 x 25.2 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Light foxing, soiling and creasing. Paper loss at top left and left margins, backed. Several spots with surface paper damage thin paper. Not very noticable. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
After a oil-sketch by Rembrandt from 1634-1635, presently at the Gemaldegalerie in Berlin.
State: According to Hillemacher (1877) this prent is dated and signed ‘N.f. 1808 d’apres Rembrandt’, which this ed. does not show.

Biography engraver: Jean-Pierre Norblin de La Gourdaine (1745-1830), a French painter, draughtsman, and graphic artist who was active in Poland during the Stanislavian period. He is considered a pioneer of Polish genre painting and was heavily influenced by Rembrandt.
