BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Published by Mme. Mirraille (Lyon) and Sechy (Paris), etched by Martini, finshed by engraving by Le Bas, based on a painting by Ollivier.

Biography engraver: Pietro Antonio Martini (1738-1797) was an Italian painter and engraver. Active in Paris, he was known for his panoramic views, especially of art exhibitions, and for landscapes after masters such as Vernet, Solimena, and Pillement. Jacques-Philippe Le Bas (1707-1783) was a French engraver and workshop head, known for reproducing major works and training generations of engravers.

Biography artist: Michel-Barthelemy Ollivier (1712-1784) was a French painter known for genre scenes and courtly depictions of leisure and festivals, often working for patrons including the Spanish and French courts.
