BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Published 1765 after a 1761 design by Herman Saftleven. With coat of arms of Ploos on the rear (Lugt 2725).

Biography engraver: Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (1726-1798) was active as merchant in Amsterdam. He was an avid collector of art and invented a method of making prints after drawings from his own collection.
Biography artist: Herman Saftleven (1609-1685) was a Dutch Golden Age artist known for his river landscapes and precise drawings. His works were frequently collected and reproduced in the 18th century.
