Biography engraver: Gerard Edelinck (1640-1707) was a Flemish engraver active in Paris, renowned for his masterful portrait engravings. He became one of the leading engravers of his time and was appointed to the Acad?mie royale de peinture et de sculpture.
Biography artist: Claude Mellan (1598-1688) was a French engraver and draftsman known for his innovative technique of using a single spiraling line for modeling faces. He was active in Rome and Paris and served as engraver to the king.
