Portraits of Julius Caesar, Augustus, Germanicus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, Seneca, Nero, Galba, Salvius Otho, Vitellius, Vespasianus, Titus Vespasianus and Flavius Domitianus.
Complete set of 8 plates. The first six deal with the Batavian Revolt against the Romans in 69-70 AC. The last two show daily life and rites of the Germanic tribes.

These plates originate from a 1704 Dutch ed. of the works of Tacitus, translated by P.C. Hooft.
Engraved by Andries Vaillant. Andries Vaillant (1655-1693) was a Dutch engraver from Amsterdam. He was a pupil of his brother Wallerant Vaillant.
Condition: Very Good. Left margins a bit short but with all plate edges.
