BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The engraving, published in 1623, is attributed to the Flemish engraver Pieter de Jode.

Reference: Kurhaus Museum Kleve inventory number: SAK 1951.

Biography engraver: Pieter de Jode (1570-1634) was a Flemish engraver and publisher known for his portrait engravings and historical prints. He was active in Antwerp and worked in the mannerist and Baroque styles, producing illustrations of prominent European figures.
