BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Jacob Gole (1660-1737) was a Dutch draughtsman, engraver and publisher. He belonged to a group of French refugees who came to the Northern Netherlands in the end of the 17th. Century. He worked in close collaboration with Cornelis Dusart and specialized in the making of mezzotints.
