Description
Original master print, titled: ‘Le Soir’. It shows an idyllic scene in the countryside near a river. A group of 5 sheperds (three female, two male) is playing music while two children are dancing. Several goats are resting nearby. A second flock (of sheep) is crossing a stone bridge with two sheperds in the background.

Medium: engraving / etching on wove paper.

Biography artist: Salomon Gessner (1730-1788) was a Swiss painter/poet. As a painter he represented the conventional classical landscape.
