Very rare & complete Dutch ed. in 4 volumes of one of the earliest accounts on Australia. Complete with all text and the Australia map. The 4 volumes have title pages with delicate views of Sydney harbour, a Sand bank before the coast of Australia, St. Georges Sound and a view on Mauritius. Complete as issued.

Map newly engraved by the Dutch engraver Daniel Veelwaard, based on the maps in the 1814 English ed.

Matthew Flinders was the first to circumvent and document the coasts of Australia from 1801-1803. On his return to England his ship stranded and he was held captive by the French on Mauritius for over 6,5 years where he made the manuscript maps of Australia.
