Engraving hand coloured on hand laid, (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 42 x 31,3 cm. (16,5 x 12,3 inch). Image size: 34,5 x 28 cm. (13,6 x 11 inch).

This attractive print was published in 1730 by Chatelain in Amsterdam in ‘Geschiedenissen der Vereenigde Nederlanden, (…)’, Jean le Clerc. Provenance: S.J. Robitsch ‘s-Gravenhage in blue stamp on reverse. He was a Dutch photographer.

Made by ‘Coenraet Decker’ after own design. Coenraet Decker (ca. 1650-1685) was a Dutch Golden Age engraver, and pupil of Romeyn de Hooghe.

Condition: Good, given age. Tears in margins been restored with old and new restorations. Fold as published. Fold in lower margin. Piece of left corner below is missing. Owners stamp. In pencil writing on rear. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
