Made by ‘Elisha Kirkall’ after ‘Thomas Baston’. Elisha Kirkall (c.1682-1742) was a reknown English engraver from Sheffield, active in London, noted for many experiments in printmaking techniques. Some doubt the authorship of this print as the printmaking technique is not typical for Kirkall. Thomas Baston (b. c.1670/75; fl. 1695-1735) was a pioneer English marine artist / draughtsman.
