[Fodor PETROFF] Untitled surrealist etching

Intricate surrealist etching featuring a central nude male figure at the wheel of a ship. His face is partially obscured by a compass. He is flanked by two nude female figures, holding mechanical or natural objects. Small vignettes in the edges of the image feature, among others, a woman giving a thistle to a man, a cross section of a sail ship, a thistle and a fish.

Sheet size: 53,3 x 71,6 cm. Image size: 49 x 64,5 cm.

Titled (illegible), marked “E/A” (Artist’s proof), signed and dated in pencil by the artist in the lower margin. With an additional workshop blindstamp in the lower margin.

Made by ‘Fodor Petroff’ after own design. We have not been able to further identify this artist.

Condition: Very good, given age. Some creasing in the top margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
