Plate : ‘Divertissements de Paysans Hollandois.’ (Entertainment of Dutch farmers.) Village scene with a peasant dance outside a tavern, a bagpipe player standing on a barrel at right, a woman drawing water from a well at left, two hogs and two chickens in lower left. This is an original antique master print originally published 1748. This is a later ed.: c. 1820. Our definition of a Master Print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters.Artists and Engravers: This plate engraved by Ludovicus Surugue after David Teniers. Louis de Surugue de Surgis (French, 1686-1762). David Teniers the Younger (1610-1690) was a Flemish artist born in Antwerp, the son of David Teniers the Elder.
Condition: Good. General age-related toning. Scattered foxing. Please study scan carefully.
