Antique print, titled: ‘Amelia, gravinne van Solms, gemalin van Frederik Hendrik, Prins van Oranje. ‘ – An oval portrait of Amalia, Countess of Solms, wife of Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange, within a decorated border with a globe, lyre and book in the lower edge. Source unknown, to be determined.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Jakob Houbraken’ after ‘Gerard Hermansz. Honthorst ‘. Jakob Houbraken (1698-1780) was a very productive Dutch 18th. Century engraver, who produced a great number of book-illustrations in the taste of the time. He also engraved many portraits and some prints after contemporary masters. Gerard Hermansz. Honthorst (1592-1656) was a Dutch painter, one of the most gifted followers of Caravaggio, a pupil or Blommaert.
Condition: Good, given age. Small stains in margin. Remains of attachment on rear. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
