Original etching/engraving on a verge type handlaid paper. on paper.

Size in cm: The overall size is ca. 17 x 21 cm. The image size is ca. 15 x 18.5 cm. Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 6.7 x 8.3 inch. The image size is ca. 5.9 x 7.3 inch.

Original antique print, titled: ‘Der vornehmsten Unterirdische Orter in Bethlehem’. It shows a view of Bethlehem, with an image showing the subterraneous araes in the village. This print originates from Heinrich Bunting’s ‘Itinerarium Sacrae Scripturae – Reise Buch uber die Ganze Heilige Schrift’ (Erfurt, Jungnicol, 1754). This work was originally published (from 1581)) with woodcut maps illustrating the most complete summary of biblical geography available at the time. In later editions the maps were updated to reflect modern knowledge. Rare.Artists and Engravers: The author of this work is Heinrich Bunting. Heinrich Bunting (1545-1606) was a German Protestant pastor and theologian. Itinerarium Sarcae Scripturae was his best known work, first published in 1581. Artist and engraver unknown, to be determined.

Condition: Good, given age. A tiny wormhole in the bottom margin, small stain in the right margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
