Plate 88: ‘Arnulfus in de gevangenis geworgt’ (Arnulfus strangled in prison). It shows: Arnulf, seated in a prison, strangled by two men pulling a cord around the neck of the captive. This original engraving originates from ‘Tafereelen der eerste Christenen, bestaande in 92 konstprenten’ (Scenes of the first Christians, in 92 prints). This book was published in 1740 in Amsterdam by Gerrity de Groot and Jacobus Rijkhof. The prints by Luyken are accompanied by texts by P. Langendyk and C.
