Antique print, titled: ‘Reuersae sun aguae de terra … Gen. VIII.’ – Plate: Noah and his family have left the Ark and now each pair of animals exits, after the waters have subsided. Above Noah are two doves holding the olive branch that first indicated the waters had retreated from the Earth again. Genesis 8:16-19. “Sacrae historiae acta a Raphaele Urbin. in Vaticanis xystis ad picturae miraculum expressa Nicolaus Chapron”, first published in Rome, 1649. This work contains plates engraved after Raphael’s Vatican murals. Ref: IconClass 71B342. Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Nicolas Chapron’ after an anonymous artist. The engraver of this work is Nicolas Chapron / Chaperon, French (1612-1656), designed after the Vatican murals by Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino (1483-1520). The publisher of this edition is Pierre Mariette (1634-1716).

Condition: Good, given age. Original tiny binding holes in the left margin (as issued, not affecting image). Some small stains in margin, not affecting image.
