Print Description
Decorative elements, three of which with military theme and the fourth with pastoral theme. Features a trumpet and sword, a broken lance, and breastplate and arrow on olive and oak branches. The final combines a nest of pigeons with four shepherd’s staffs (a thyrsus, shepherd’s crook) pan pipes and a tambourine.

Medium: Handcoloured etching. on hand laid (verge) paper.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The original design by Bossi from 1770. This print originates from ‘Ornements Vases et Decorations’ by Pequegnot, published 1862-1870.
Biography engraver: Auguste Pequegnot (1819-1878) was a French painter and engraver. He painted mainly landscapes and women, under tutelage of Master Ciceri. His main engraving work was ‘Ornements Vases et Decorations’, a series of 100 etchings of architectural, sculptural and decorative arts. Benigno Bossi (1727-1800) was an Italian painter, engraver and stucco artist.
