Subject: Antique print, titled: ”Quaad Voor Teken […].” – (Bad omen). This rare original antique print shows ”The bossy wife”. The text below, in Dutch, speaks of the Hen playing the Rooster and ”Wanneer de vrou den Broeck begeert / Zoo is het Gantsche huijs onteert” (When the wife desires to wear the pants / the whole household goes awry).
Condition: Good, given age. Horizontal and vertical folds. Irregular edges as issued. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Copperplate engraving / etching. on hand laid (verge) paper.
