‘The good Samaritan’

Made after 1633, before 1683.

Etching on hand laid paper, attached to carrier with hand drawn border and annotations. Watermark: not inspected.

Made by Salomon Savery after Rembrandt. Etching in the same direction as Rembrandt. Salomon Savery / Saverij (1594-1683) was an engraver from the Dutch artist family Savery. He was born in Amsterdam and died in Haarlem. He travelled to England in 1632.

Condition: Trimmed within plate marks. Bottom captions not present or trimmed depending on state. Good condition, given age. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
