ELEANOR OF AUSTRIA-CASTILE-PORTRAIT-P.26 ‘La Royne Eleonore’ [Lord GOWER after CLOUET, 1875]

This scarce original antique print shows a portrait of Eleanor of Austria (15 November 1498 – 25 February 1558), also called Eleanor of Castile, she was born an Archduchess of Austria and Infanta of Castile from the House of Habsburg, and subsequently became Queen consort of Portugal (1518–1521) and of France (1530–1547). Auto-lithographed from the originals at Castle Howard, Yorkshire.

Made by Lord Ronald Gower after Francois Clouet. Lord Ronald Charles Sutherland-Leveson-Gower (2 August 1845 – 9 March 1916), known as Lord Ronald Gower, was a Scottish Liberal politician, sculptor and writer from the Leveson-Gower family. Francois Clouet (c. 1510-1572), son of Jean Clouet, was a French Renaissance miniaturist and painter, particularly known for his detailed portraits of the French ruling family.

Condition: Good, given age. A few tiny unobtrusive spots. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
