With 13 wonderful atmospheric photogravure plates combining image and calligraphic text (partly in colour), by Joachim Skovgaard and August Jerndorff. Three illustrations printed underneath the text in the first story and illustrations after the text by Jerndorff. Additionally decorated with vignettes and ornaments in the text by Thorvald Bindesbøll.
Original full brown/anthracite morocco with dustjacket (red cloth over paper), gilt decorations to front and rear boards and spine. All edges gilt, pictorial endpapers. Bound by Thorvald Petersens Bogbinderi.
This copy is numbered 11, with a printed colophon page preceding the title page, stating this copy was printed for Højesteretssagfører (Supreme Court Lawyer) G.M. Rée (= Gerhard Müler Rée, 1858-19331). This copy is printed on luxury Japanese paper.

In very good condition, some rubbing to the spine hinges and board edges, the corners bumped. Book block tight and clean.
