Medium: Engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 22.5 x 17.5 cm (8.86 x 6.89 inch). Image size: 20 x 14.5 cm. (7.87 x 5.71 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Light foxing, soilng and creasing. Small hole at left, backed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
From: ‘Omnium Belgii sive Inferioris Germaniae Descriptio.’ by L. Guicciardini, published by Jan Janz., Arnhem, 1613, where it was added by occasion.
Biography engraver: Pieter van der Keere (also: Peter Kaerius, 1571-c.1646) was a Dutch engraver, publisher and globe maker. He was born in Ghent, but repatriated to London for religious reasons. In London he was trained by Jodocus Hondius, with whom he left for Amsterdam in 1593.
Biography artist: Lodovico Guicciardini (1521-1589): an Italian merchant from aristocratic descent.
